Saint Joseph’s College of Maine Announces a $2,076,276 HRSA Grant To Support Nursing Students Pursuing FNP, PMHNP, and AGPCNP Degrees

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is proud to announce a unique scholarship opportunity for nursing students pursuing degrees as Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP), and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (AGPCNP). This special scholarship is designed to address the critical need for healthcare providers in medically underserved and rural communities.

Saint Joseph’s College has received a generous $2,076,276 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The HRSA Advanced Nursing Education Workforce Scholarship is a federally funded program aimed at increasing the number of primary care nurse practitioners in communities that face significant healthcare access challenges.

This scholarship covers a wide range of expenses to support eligible students as they work to become healthcare leaders in their communities, including:

  • Tuition fees for qualifying nursing students
  • Reimbursement for course-related expenses such as clinicals, CastleBranch, Shadow Health, iHuman, textbooks, and supplies
  • Living expense support, including child care and gas, for eligible students

The scholarship is open to students enrolled in the FNPPMHNP, and AGPCNP programs at Saint Joseph’s College, and applications are now being accepted. The application deadline for this opportunity is June 1, 2025. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, so early submission is encouraged.

Saint Joseph’s College is committed to addressing the healthcare workforce shortage, particularly in rural areas where access to primary care is often limited. This scholarship helps alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by students who aspire to make a lasting impact on the health and well-being of underserved populations.
