(Standish, Maine) - The Sebago Lake Symposium on February 2, 2019 will be hosted by the Portland Water District and the Center for Sustainable Communities at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. This event offers an opportunity for Sebago Lake community members and scientists to interactively and collaboratively share and grow their understanding of Sebago Lake, a freshwater lake that provides water for 15% of Maine's population. The event runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Standish campus ("snow date" has been set for February 9th).

Topics covered by speakers and sessions include: health of Sebago Lake fisheries, Sebago Lake water quality, climate change impacts, the Sebago Lake monitoring buoy, algae and invasive plants, citizen science opportunities, beach closures, and policies for lake protection. Detailed session descriptions and the symposium schedule are available at www.sjcme.edu/sebago.

The Symposium is free and open to the public. Because seats are limited and the lunch and a beer tasting are included for symposium participants, those who are interested should register at https://goo.gl/forms/JddEty5YdV78V1yt1. The event is limited to 150 registrants and registration is required. If you register and your plans to attend change, please email sebago@sjcme.edu.
