Four student artists launch large-format art exhibition

As the four students step up to their larger-than-life works of art, the terms that come to mind are poise, bravery, talent. Drawing deep breaths and digging for patience, the student artists pick up their brushes, pastels, or cutting tools for the final touches before exhibition.

#Suitelife: A Style of Communal Living

Ask anyone about what they picture as a stereotypical college dorm room, and you’ll hear a number of similar responses. Cramped rooms, bathrooms down the hall, and one or two roommates. Feeney Hall, aka the Suites, differs from this picture by offering apartment-style housing for up to eight students. It’s located across from Alfond Hall in an area known as the “Fishbowl”—made up of five available residence halls that form a horseshoe shape. As one of the upperclassmen residence halls, it’s a popular destination on campus and one of two group housing options.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine nursing students achieve highest NCLEX pass rate in the state among BSN programs

The Saint Joseph’s College of Maine nursing program has achieved the highest pass rate of licensing exams for students in a BSN nursing program in the State of Maine. For calendar year 2018, SJC nursing graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate of NCLEX, the National Council Licensure Examination. This SJC pass rate surpassed the national average of 89.41 percent and the Maine state average of 89 percent.

Wabanaki Drum Group Members Perform, Reminisce with Sisters, and Visit Freight Farm

The Center for Faith and Spirituality and the Center for Sustainable Communities were pleased to welcome The Burnurwurbskek Singers — the Keepers of the Penobscot Drum — to campus in October to share their traditional music and experiences of life on reservations today with students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the public. Several Sisters of Mercy attended the event, which led to much fond reminiscing about shared family history and the Sisters' time spent serving in several Wabanaki communities across the state.

MABLab!: A New On-campus Internship in Entrepreneurism

MABLab!, the new student entrepreneurism and innovation hub at Saint Joseph's College, is currently accepting applications and planning projects for entrepreneurial students interested in Spring 2019 internships and apprenticeships. On Friday, September 28th, members of the College community gathered in the Viola George Auditorium in Alfond Hall on Saint Joseph’s Standish campus for the annual induction ceremony of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma National Scholastic Honor Society.

Former US Assistant Secretary of State Philip J. Crowley visited the Saint Joseph's College campus and spoke on “The Challenge of Political Leadership and Legitimacy in a Time of Extreme Partisanship, Fake News, and International Conflict.”

Education majors convened at the Saint Joseph’s College grotto on a sunny Thursday, September 13th to attend the annual Junior Education Ceremony. This event honored the nearly twenty students from the Class of 2020 who will soon begin their teaching internships.
