Flamenco dancers, tapas, and beaches! This summer, seven Saint Joseph’s College students embarked on an adventure in gorgeous Granada, Spain, and they’re anxious to share their experience with current students. When they weren’t in classes at the renowned Immaculata University, they traveled to the sun-soaked beaches of the Mediterranean, hiked across the massive hanging bridges of the Los Cahorros gorge, and immersed themselves in another culture. The students remained consistently busy and enraptured by all that Granada has to offer them. “Leaving Granada was heartbreaking [...] because I had such a good time there,” said Meg Nadeau ‘19 when asked about her experience, a sentiment echoed by many of her fellow travelers who had also fallen in love with the city, the country, and its people.
This trip will be available for students again for the spring 2018 semester. During the semester students will take five courses, four on-site at Immaculata University and one online or independent study course of choice with the Sebago SJC campus, all of which fulfill core requirements and/or electives. Also included is room and board, various excursions to Spanish cities including Madrid, Avila, and Toledo, and other travel opportunities to places such as London and Barcelona.
On September 13, an information booth will be set up in the Alfond Hall 2nd floor lobby from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on September 14 the booth will be located in the Alfond Center lobby from 12 to 3 p.m. Additionally on September 14, in the Alfond Center Student Lounge from 5 to 6:30 p.m., a Go Global, Go Granada! party will feature a Q&A session on the Granada semester with students who just returned. More information can also be found on our Study in Granada page.
The deadline for applications is October 31, so students are encouraged to begin the process as soon as possible. Contact 893-7824 or studyaway@sjcme.edu.
