Experience All the Region Has to Offer
In 1956—44 years after Saint Joseph’s was founded—College officials made a big decision: to move campus from Portland to Standish. With the move came several hundred acres of pristine Maine real estate, including shoreline on the state’s second-biggest lake, Sebago Lake. The choice to relocate was an auspicious one—the lake is now one of the College’s defining assets.
Considered one of the purest lakes in the state, Sebago Lake is the primary water source for Portland. But the clarity of Sebago makes for more than good drinking water. From sunset kayak tours and stand up paddle boarding to limnology and more, Sebago Lake provides both recreational and educational opportunities for Saint Joseph’s students. Watch the video below to see how we are taking advantage of our lakeside location.
