Daniel Leland was a self-employed small business owner for approximately 15 years, operating several retail bakery operations in the Portland, Maine area. His bakeries were awarded Portland's Finest Bakery award on four separate occasions by the readers of the Portland Press Herald. In corporate America, he has held Management positions at WEX, Rockler Woodworking and Hancock Lumber.
Leland is a former professor of business at Perdue Global University. He was the head men’s and women’s basketball and cross-country coaches at the University of Maine Machias, and associate professor of business at Thomas College and woman's basketball coach. He has served as Faculty Senate President for 4 years.
In his spare time, he enjoys bike racing, skiing, hiking, reading and traveling.

Innovative Pedagogical Methods
Former State of Maine Representative to the Open Resource Community of Practice board selected by the New England Board of Higher Education. We work to develop instructional resources and pedagogy training sessions to incorporate Open Educational Resources in the classroom.
Trips with Students
He has supervised trips for students to Wall Street in New York City, and the Society for the Advancement of Management in Nashville, Orlando, and San Diego.
As a coach his University of Maine Machias team participated in the USCAA Final Four in Pennsylvania.
