Christopher Sullivan is a conceptual artist, graphic designer, and exhibit developer. He believes that art and design are rigorous play. His training includes undergraduate concentrations in printmaking, figurative drawing and painting, and graduate research specializing in institutional critique.
Prior to coming to Saint Joseph’s College, Professor Sullivan served as the Director of Exhibits and Operations at the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine. While there, he was in charge of the daily management of the museum, development of interactive exhibits, and oversight of capital projects. He is active in the local arts community and has volunteered as a set designer and served as board president of Mad Horse Theatre, an innovative and critically acclaimed professional theater company.
He is currently overseeing the master planning and design implementation for the new Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine in downtown Portland.
Awards
The Maine Arts Commission, the Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust, and the Goldberg Charitable Foundation - awarded grants to Chris Sullivan to support a visiting artist residency on campus and at Windham High School by internationally acclaimed photographer Cig Harvey. (2017)
