Services provided:

  • Appointments are recommended but students are also seen on a first come first serve basis as walk-in patients. 

  • Students are first seen by a registered nurse who will obtain vitals and a brief history of your complaint. The nurse will then offer advice which may include over the counter products available at our self serve care center or have you seen by a provider.

  • Providers are trained in primary care medicine and will address your complaint and treat it in the appropriate manner which may include a written prescription. Prescriptions can be filled at any  local pharmacy.

  • Providers also see patients for follow-up care, mental health medication management, sports physicals, well woman physicals including gyn exams, confidential sexually transmitted infection counseling and testing, minor injuries, and minor skin procedures including cryotherapy. Students are treated in compliance with HIPPA regulations, maintaining  complete confidentiality. Their medical information can only be released after a written request has been submitted.

  • The Health and Wellness Center also offers routine lab testing, PPD testing, and limited immunizations.

There are three local Urgent Care facilities which are open from 8am-8pm, 7 days per week for minor emergencies. You must provide your own transportation to these urgent care facilities.  Bring a copy of your insurance card with you.

Standish rescue will be called by security (x 7911) in the event of an emergency and you will be transported to the hospital of your choice.

Meet the staff

Su-Anne M. Hammond, DO
Dr. Hammond is a board certified family practice physician who serves as the director of the Health and Wellness Center.  She sees students by  appointment two days per week and is responsible for many other health service administrative details  including the pandemic plan, wellness fair, HIPPA compliance, blood borne pathogens, and education programs for faculty, staff and students.

Sheri Piers, ANP-C
Sheri is a  registered nurse practitioner, certified in adult primary care medicine.  She sees student by appointment two days per week and assists Dr. Hammond with educational programming for faculty, staff, and students.

Patricia Duchette, RN and Susan McNeil, RN
Our registered nurses are in the office daily to triage students, assist with general medical care, set up       appointments for students to see our providers and assist students with most all of their medical needs.

Doreen Webber, Adm.Assistant
Doreen is in the office daily to help students with insurance questions and schedule appointments. She is also   responsible for tracking all immunizations and medical forms which are required by state law.

HEALTH TIPS BULLETIN

Remember to use your Respiratory Etiquette to reduce the spread of GERMS!

-cover your nose and mouth with your elbow or tissue when you cough and sneeze

-do not share water bottles, chap stick, or eating utensils/cups

-WASH your HANDS often

Is it the flu or just a cold?

- Fever almost always with the flu (usually >102) rarely with a cold

- Muscle aches mild with a cold , more severe with the flu

- Headache rare with a cold , severe with the flu

- Fatigue mild with a cold , very severe and lasts a long time with the flu

Stop the Spread of Germs

- The main way illnesses like colds and flu are spread is from person to person in respiratory droplets of coughs and sneezes.

- Respiratory droplets can survive on a desk surface for 2 hours or longer.

-COVER your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.

-Wash your hands with soap and water or alcohol based sanitizers OFTEN.
